Easter Duty Rolls

Since the Catholic Church sees attendance at Easter as the most important obligation, each person was given a card to be filled out by that person and deposited at Church on Easter Sunday. This showed the priest who attended the Easter services and who made their confession. The ledger denotes males who were farm workers, who were allowed to miss the service because they were working on their farms. On several occasions you will see someone who did not attend but had someone fill out a card for them.
