Jutkiewicz, Frank (1855-1921)

Frank Jutkiewicz
b: 1855 - d: 16 Aug 1921

Frank Jutkiewicz, (better known as Cabbage), who met his death by an accident last week, was a Russian Pole 66 years of age and was a fair sample of the product of Russian despotism in the peasant class. Rough and ignorant in his speech as the natural result of a lifetime of toil and no schooling, he posessed one outstanding trait which deserves recognition - he was a man of persistent industry. Winter and summer alike, he gave his days to labor if it was anywhere to be had and was never and idler. He was a teamster by occupation and was generally employed either by the village of Contractor Rhody. He came here a poor immigrant and brought up a family of eight children to the age of self-support and owned the home he occupied. He lost one son in the Phillipines. Born a son of toil, he was just what Russian laws made him, with American inspiration and energy added to his latter years.
