ROOMER IS KILLED IN WINDOW DROP

Coroner Gives Ruling of Accident in Fatality

After plunging from a third story rooming house window early on Saturday evening on Dill St., a 59 year old roomer died almost instantly when he landed face down on the sidewalk there.

Stanley J. Luczak, 59, was pronounced dead on arrival at City Hospital after being taken there at 8:47pm by ambulance.

Coroner Dr. Norman L.Woodford issued a verdict of accidental death. He said that Luczak received a fractured skill and a broken neck.

Police said that Luczak was talking with another roomer, Hank McLean, just before the fatal plunge. Sgt. Henry Mitchell reported that both men had been sitting on window sills.

McLean told Sgt. Mitchell that he heard some glass break and when he looked up he saw that Luczak had falled backward out the window.

Officer Joseph Myers checked Luczak's pulse soon after he had fallen and said that apparently there was no pulse beat. Officers Henry O'Hora and Michael Bresnick were also detailed.

Luczak was born in Albion and lived in Auburn for 45 years. He was a World War I veteran. Luczak worked for the Water Department of the City of Auburn.

He was a communicant of St. Hyacinth's Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
