Raymond M. Busch (Buckiewicz) passed away on Wed., May 29, 2013. He was born in Medina, N.Y., on Nov. 11, 1920, the son of the late Konstanty and Veronica (Zyniewicz) Buckiewicz of Medina. Mr. Busch graduated from Medina High School, Class of 1938, after completing a three-year accelerated curriculum. Prior to the start of the Second World War he enlisted in the Army Air Force as an aviation cadet pilot. He served as a B-52 pilot with the 12th Air Force, 57th Bombardment Wing, 310th Bombardment Group in North Africa and Italy. He later served as a flight operations officer with the Mediterranean Allied Air Force special missions group. On Sept. 30, 1946, Mr. Busch married the former Rita M. Tylec of Medina. He attended the University of Buffalo and graduated with a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly thereafter, he began work with Harrison Radiator, Division of General Motors in Lockport as a manufacturing planning engineer and retired from there in 1980. Mr. Busch was a communicant at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina. During the pastorate of Msgr. George Yiengst he served as chairman of the local Catholic Charities campaign and received the St. Joseph the Worker Award. He greatly loved his parish and his faith and enjoyed, for many years, preparing the sanctuary for the Christmas season. Mr. Busch was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 651 in Medina and served as a club director for many years. Throughout his long and rich life he enjoyed many things, most of all his wife, family and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three sons: Martin (Ann) Busch of Middleport, Michael Busch of Ithaca and Christopher (Cynthia) Busch of Medina; three grandchildren: Megan (Michael) Hungerford of Buffalo, Zachary Busch and Samuel Busch of Medina; and one great-grandchild, Ella Rita Hungerford. Mr. Busch was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Rita Marie (Tylec) Busch of Medina, along with his mother, father and several brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., May 31, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Town of Ridgeway. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 211 Eagle St., Medina, NY 14103. Arrangements were completed by Cooper Funeral Home, Medina.
