Juan Carlos Ramirez is originally from East Los Angeles, California. He is a first-generation college graduate raised by two loving immigrant working-class parents; He graduated from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles in 1995. He then attended the University of California Santa Barbara, earning his bachelor's degree in Spanish and Chicano Studies. He later obtained a master's degree in school administration from the University of Lamar in 2010.

 

He began his career as an instructional aide and shortly after became a classroom teacher at El Puente Community Court School. In 2006, he moved to Houston and joined the GPISD family as a World Geography teacher at 麻豆区 High School. He then advanced to roles as Coordinator for Student Support Services and then as an Assistant Principal.  Eventually, he was promoted to Associate Principal before leaving in 2021 when he was named principal of Woodland Acres Middle School.

 

He is happily married for 23 years this October to Araceli Ramirez. Juan Carlos has three children, all of whom attend GPISD schools and are/were in the Encounters program. In his free time, he enjoys riding his motorcycle, watching movies, and vacationing with his family.
