  • Bullying Definition

    Bullying occurs when a student or group of students engages in written or verbal expression, expression through electronic methods, or physical conduct against another student on school property, at a school-sponsored or related activity, or in a district operated vehicle, and the behavior:

    • results in harm to the student or the student’s property, or
    • places a student in reasonable fear of physical harm or of damage to the student’s property, or
    • is so severe, persistent, and pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment.

    This conduct is considered bullying if it exploits an imbalance of power between the student perpetrator(s) and the student victim and if it interferes with a student’s education or substantially disrupts the operation of the school.

    Bullying is prohibited by the district and could include hazing, threats, taunting, teasing, confinement, assault, demands for money, destruction of property, theft of valued possessions, name-calling, rumor-spreading, or ostracism. In some cases, bullying can occur through electronic methods, called “cyberbullying”.

    Steps to Report Bullying

    If you or your child experience(s) an incidence of bullying, please follow these steps and complete the Bullying Complaint form:

    • Step 1: A report must be completed to file a complaint related to an incident of the alleged bullying. The complainants name will be confidential.
    • Step 2: Once the form is completed, the form should be returned to the school’s Principal/designee of the victim’s home school or the appropriate district office.
    • Step 3: Upon receiving the Complaint Form, an investigation will be conducted to determine whether a violation of the Student Code of Conduct has occurred: if so, the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

    Intimidación (Bullying)

    La intimidación (Bullying) ocurre cuando un estudiante o grupo de estudiantes participa en expresión escrita o verbal, expresión a través de medios electrónicos, o conducta física en contra de otro estudiante en la propiedad de la escuela, en una actividad patrocinada o relacionada con la escuela o en un vehículo operado por el distrito y el comportamiento:

    • resulta en daño al estudiante o a la propiedad del estudiante, o
    • coloca al estudiante en un temor razonable de daño a su persona o daño a su propiedad, o
    • es tan severo, persistente y dominante que crea intimidación, riesgo o un ambiente educativo abusivo para un estudiante.

    Esta conducta es considerada bullying, si ésta aprovecha un desequilibrio de poder entre el estudiante infractor o los estudiantes infractores y el estudiante víctima, y si ésta interfiere con la educación del estudiante o sustancialmente interrumpe la operación de la escuela.

    El Bullying está prohibido por el distrito y podría incluir novatadas, amenazas, burlas, encierro, agresión, exigir dinero o artículos, destrucción de la propiedad, robo de cosas de valor, insultos, hacer correr rumores o segregación. En algunos casos, el bullying puede ocurrir a través de medios electrónicos, llamada intimidación cibernética o mejor conocido como “cyberbullying.”

    Pasos para reportar Bullying

    Si usted o su hijo/a experimenta un incidente de bullying, por favor siga estos pasos y llene el Formulario de Queja de Intimidación (bullying):

    • Paso 1: Un reporte debe ser llenado para presentar una queja relacionada a un incidente por presunto bullying. El nombre de los denunciantes se mantendrá confidencial.
    • Paso 2: Una vez llenado, el formulario deberá ser regresado al director o designado de la escuela a la que asiste la víctima o a la oficina apropiada del distrito.
    • Paso 3: Una vez recibido el Formulario de Queja, se llevará a cabo una investigación para determinar si ocurrió una violación al Código de Conducta Estudiantil; de ser así, será tomada la acción disciplinaria apropiada.

    Por favor descargue el Formulario de Reporte de Queja de Intimidación . Después que usted llene el formulario, por favor regréselo al director o designado de la escuela a la que asiste la víctima o a la oficina apropiada del distrito.
