Dr. Gerald D. Cobb 6th Grade Campus Math & Science Club

  • The Dr. Gerald D. Cobb Math & Science Club offers your child an opportunity to advance his/her learning in the areas of mathematics and science. It promotes learning in number sense skills, calculator use, and all areas of science. Students interested must maintain an 85% or above average in their math and science classes and good conduct in all classes.

Tournaments are held on Saturdays, from October to April, throughout the southeast region of Texas. The students compete against other 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in the categories of Number Sense, General Mathematics, Science, and Calculator.  Parents are welcome to attend and observe their child excel in academics, have fun, and compete against other children from public, private, and home schools.

Your child can continue this advancement through high school, win trophies, medals, ribbons, and meet new friends from all over the state of Texas.

To top it off, this organization raises funds and gives a $500.00 scholarship to a North Shore Senior High graduating senior who plans to major in math, science, or technology in college.

Practice for the competitions are held every morning, before school, in room 409.  Students are given passes to attend.  Officers are elected in early September, organization shirts are provided for the students, and the tests taken at the competitions by active participants are paid for by the school.
