Meet Precious White, a former student of Dr. Shirley J. Williamson Elementary, Cobb Sixth Grade Campus, North Shore Middle School, and a 2014 graduate of North Shore Senior High School.  While a junior at NSSHS, Precious made the decision to enroll in the MECA (Modified Early College Academy), which is a program offered by San Jacinto College that offers classes for high school juniors and seniors by allowing them to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. The classes are taught on the San Jacinto College North campus by San Jacinto College faculty.  By making this decision, Precious was able to get a “head start” on her college career, which allowed her to graduate with her associate of arts degree in May 2014; a month prior to receiving her high school diploma. While in high school, Precious accomplished many things and was involved in numerous organizations, all of which made her an outstanding student and scholar.  She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa (a nation wide junior college honor society), she graduated Magna Cum Laude (the top 5% of her high school class), and she held leadership positions in several organizations on campus.

Precious decided to continue her higher education at the University of Houston’s Central Campus to obtain a degree in chemical engineering. She chose this major because she not only loves math and science, but she is a GREAT problem solver. She has always been fascinated with how things work and are built.  Since she completed her associate of arts degree as a high school senior, she is currently classified as a junior in college based on credit hours.

Although engineering is not an easy major to accomplish, Precious still manages to handle school and her social life well. Her hobbies mainly consist of hanging out with her family and friends. She has fun participating in a variety of activities with others such as bowling, watching movies, indoor sky diving and traveling – as long as she is with friends. She also devotes a majority of her free time to her church where she works in the AV booth and is one of several youth leaders.  She considers the members of her church as her family and enjoys watching the youth grow spiritually.

Once she obtains her bachelor's degree from the University of Houston, Precious has set a goal to land a job with a well-known company, such as Shell, Exxon or Bayer.  Her desire is to establish her career with one of these companies before returning to school to pursue her doctorate in chemical Engineering. 

We are very proud of Precious, and we look forward to seeing her walk across the stage as a graduate many more times!
