Choose Your Path...
Students in the class of 2018 and beyond will be able to earn one or more endorsements as part of their graduation requirements. Endorsements consist of a related series of courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set. They provide students with in-depth knowledge of a subject area.

Select Endorsements
Students must choose "endorsements" or areas of concentration, upon entering the ninth grade. Each student can choose more than one endorsement area. 

Students earn an endorsement by successfully completing:

• Curriculum requirements for the endorsement (differs for each endorsement)
• 19 required core credits
• 7 additional elective credits
• total of 26 or more credits

All students must complete the 19 Required Core Credits:

• 4 English credits
• 4 Math credits
• 4 Science credits
• 3 Social Studies credits
• 2 Foreign Language credits
• 1 PE credit
• 1 Fine Arts credit 

Endorsements Offered:

Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
Includes courses related to science, technology, engineering and advanced mathematics.

Possible course options: Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Aerospace, Electrical Technology, Architectural Design, Computer Science, Calculus and Robotics, AP Physics, microbiology, Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology.

Business and industry
Includes courses related to agriculture, architecture, audio video, business management, finance,information technology, manufacturing and transportation.

Possible Course Options: Veterinary Medical Applications, Interior Design, Animation, Business Information Management, Accounting, Culinary Arts, Computer Technician, Welding, and Automotive Technology.

Arts and humanities
Includes courses related to fine arts, history, world languages, cultural studies, English literature.

Possible Course Options: Animation, fashion design, creative writing, music theory, floral design, band, choir, theater arts, AP Psychology, Sociology, Spanish and French.

Public services
Includes courses related to Education and Training, Health Science, and Law.

Possible Course Options: Human Growth and Development, Practicum in Education, Medical Terminology, Medical Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness, Cosmetology, Law Enforcement, and Court Systems and Practices.

Multidisciplinary studies
Allows students to select advanced courses from the curriculum.

Possible Course Options: Advanced Placement Courses, Dual Credit courses, and Career and Technology Education advanced courses. 

Performance Acknowledgments
Regardless of the Endorsement, students may earn additional seals on their diploma and transcript for outstanding performance in the following areas:

• Dual Credit
• Bilingualism
• AP Exams
• College Prep Testing
• Business Certification 

Dual Credit Opportunity
Dual credit is an opportunity for high school students to complete high school requirements and earn transferable college credit simultaneously. Students may choose from core classes such as government and English, as well as electives like psychology. Students who are enrolled in a dual credit class must complete the college application, complete placement testing called the TSI, and register for the class through the school counselor. High school students may take only two dual credit classes per semester and those classes within the student's normal schedule are included in the overall grade point average. Students are required to pay tuition to the college, but the tuition for dual credit students is significantly reduced, making this option affordable and an early smart financial investment. GPISD also offers a $50 per course dual credit scholarship opportunity to students who reside in the district boundaries. Students may apply to San Jacinto College North at www.sanjac.edu.
