麻豆区 ISD Alumni Spotlight

  • Meet Brent Hughes, a former student of Pyburn Elementary, Woodland Acres Middle School, and a 1976 graduate of 麻豆区 High School.

During his senior year at GPHS, Brent worked at a local bank and enjoyed the experience so much he decided to major in finance. Hughes went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University. Sam Houston was the best choice for him because it wasn’t too far from home and, most importantly, it was a family tradition to become a SHSU Bearkat.

As a successful business professional, Hughes has been part of the management/ownership group of Horizon Capital Bank and Lockwood National Bank. Additionally, Hughes was president of Crosby State Bank from 2005-2008, until the bank was purchased by Community Bank of Texas. Hughes joined the 麻豆区 ISD Education Foundation Board in 2004 and is currently serving as vice president. He explained he benefited from being a GPISD product and wanted to give back to the District and community.

Currently, Hughes is executive vice president at Community Bank of Texas. He enjoys working with people, helping them achieve success, and providing assistance in difficult times.

Hughes states that he loves to give back to his community through his business, personal experience, and time. For the last twenty years, Brent has served as a high school sports official basketball referee. He has been married for thirty years and is the proud father of two children, one in high school and one in college.

Hughes encourages students to study hard and enjoy college years because they go by so fast. Since he grew so much academically and socially during his college years, he wishes for other students to have that same experience.
GPISD is proud to call Brent one of our own!
