麻豆区 ISD Alumni Spotlight

  • Gary G. Hamilton is a New York City-based broadcast journalist, on-air host and reporter. Currently, Gary is the on-air host and senior producer for the award-winning New York Yankees Scoreboard and Video Production department, which also consists of the award-winning Yankees on Demand/Yankees Productions. Among his many duties are interviewing players, fans and guests of the Yankees during home games, as well as producing video content and stories online for "Yankees on Demand" on the official New York Yankees website and other Yankees-related video entities and outlets.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Gary graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Abilene Christian University. Previously, he worked as a Digital Reporter for Channel One News, a show which partnered with NBC News and then with CBS News during his tenure there. Channel One is a national news show for teenagers that airs in high schools and middle schools across the country. Channel One reaches more than six million young people every day. Gary also served as a contributing reporter for CBSNews.com.

Living in New York City for nine years, Gary has a rich and diverse career history that includes working for NBC News as a Page for the prestigious NBC Page Program, as well as working with the NBC Agency. He also spent time with the TODAY Show, helping produce and cover during the 2008 Summer Olympics. In addition, Gary was involved in the music industry, with stints at MTV, Columbia Records, ND Promotions (music video placement) and was also a freelance writer for AllHipHop.com.

While in GPISD, Gary was a GENT and a band student from middle (NSMS) school through high school (NSSHS). He also reported the "North Shore News" student broadcast during his junior and senior year on Channel One News. He could have never predicted he would go on to some day work for Channel One. Gary also notes that if had not taken broadcasting class under the direction of Mr. John Lewis (still in GPISD) that he HIGHLY doubts he would have ever thought of a major in broadcasting during college or have the career he does today.

Congratulations on all your successes, Gary.  You make GPISD proud!
