麻豆区 ISD Alumni Spotlight

  • Our May spotlight is Dominique Boykins, a 2006 North Shore Senior High graduate. She also attended Tice Elementary, Cunningham Middle School and North Shore 9th Grade Campus. While in high school, Boykins dedicated herself to basketball. She was named First Team All-District during her junior year and District MVP during her senior year. She was also a member of National Honor Society.

After high school, Boykins attended The University of West Florida on a full athletic scholarship to play basketball and graduated with a degree in finance. She then took her LSAT and received a full academic scholarship to Louisiana State University. While at LSU, she was Vice President of Administrative Affairs for the Trial Advocacy Board and won first place in the Ira S. Flory Mock Trial competition. Boykins graduated from law school in May 2015 and received her license to practice law in Texas in November 2015.

She attributes her academic success to having a strong support system at home and at school. Boykins had tons of educators who influenced her including her mother, Gwendolyn Boykins; the coaching staff at NSSHS, Allison Campbell, Gigi Gaudet and Ray Bishop; her pre-k teacher, Betty Blade; and her third grade teacher, Diane Edwards- Traylor. They taught her the importance of self-discipline and staying committed to her goals.

Boykins is currently working as a licensed attorney in Texas, and she also mentors students interested in pursuing a law degree.

In the future, Boykins would like to open her own law firm. She also plans to open a center dedicated to helping high school students get accepted into a university of their choosing and providing them a mentor in their field of interest.

Boykins is honored to be selected as an Alumni Spotlight and is so proud to be a product of 麻豆区 ISD.
